Spotted Sea Trout, Speckled Sea Trout, and Specks are all common names for what we just call Trout here in Georgia. Trout in the St. Simons Island and Jekyll Island area are typically between 12 and 20 inches in length and weight between 1 pound and 3 pound although it is not uncommon to catch them over 20 inches and up to 6 pounds.
Georgia’s Trout limit is 15 per person and a minimum length of 14 inches.
Trout are excellent table fare and are easily caught on anything from live shrimp presented under a cork to a clouser fly. Early morning Trout on top-water plugs is a favorite tactic for exciting surface explosions. Trout are available year round with peak season from September to January and April through May.
Our inshore fishing charters are available for 4, 6, and 8 hours and we can accommodate up to 6 people per boat. Please call for pricing and availability.
