Summertime Inshore/Backwater Fishing Report- Capt. Aaron

It’s summertime here in the Golden Isles!  Summertime inshore/backwater fishing has fired up right along with the temperatures.

Kids/Family Trips

It is that time of the year to get the kids out on the water during your summer vacation.  The bite has been hot with a wide array of species.  Whiting, stingrays, and multiple sizes and species of sharks are typical catches on one of our 2-3 hour kids trips.  Keeping it simple with the most bent rod action possible is the plan as well as the norm.

The shark action has especially picked up for our St. Simons Island fishing charters and our Jekyll Island fishing charters this June.  We can target them in the 1-3 foot range for the kids or the 5 plus foot range if you are looking for a sea monster.  If you weren’t already aware, the waters around the Golden Isles are one of the largest shark breeding grounds on the east coast.  Blacktips, bonnetheads, sharpnose, blacknose, sandbar, and even hammerheads and more will keep you busy on our shark fishing trips.

The inshore bite has also been getting significantly more consistent.  Speckled trout have been grouping up in nice numbers with a few flounder and drum mixed in as well.  If you are feeling like a challenge, the skinny water sight fishing for reds has been very good as well.  The flats and the creeks have been solid, and another round of flood tides is right around the corner to target those tailing redfish in the grass.

When the winds are down and the sun is out, tripletail fishing out front has been really strong the past couple of weeks as well.  A well placed live shrimp or a fly has been getting the job done on these awesome fish!  Let’s go fishing!  Click HERE  to get on the books.
