St. Simons Shark and Tarpon Fishing Charters

Shark Fishing Charters at St. Simons Island, GA

St. Simons Island and Jekyll Island Shark and Tarpon fishing charters can hang with any fishing destination in the country. We are one of the largest breeding grounds on the planet for sharks and our late summer Tarpon run can be phenomenal.

Our Shark fishing charters take you anywhere from one mile to 8 miles offshore where we primarily fish around the shrimp trawlers. These moving chum bags attract sharks from miles around and we take advantage of this concentration of fish. More often than not, we have a fish on and the drag screaming within minutes of setting out our first lines.

For the thrill seekers that want big fish, this is the trip for you. Georgia Shark fishing charters run from May to September. These trips can also be combined with Tripletail fishing charters and Inshore charters on 6 or 8 hour trips.

Want to Catch a Big Shark on Artificials?

We can certainly do this if you would like to add an extra element of challenge to your fishing trip. If you’re like me, you would rather sacrifice catching “a lot” of fish and opt for doing something less traditional and more challenging.

To catch sharks on plugs we will first have to chum them in close so we can spot them. Sometimes we will have them just a foot or two away from the boat and it’s not uncommon to have an entire pack right at the boat.

Once we have them chummed in it will be all up to you to make the right cast.

Tarpon Fishing Charters at St. Simons Island

Georgia Tarpon fishing charters hit their prime in late July and August. The primary means for targeting Georgia Tarpon is to fish live bait around the many sandbars, channels, and current seams near the beaches and sounds.

Sight fishing and fly fishing for Tarpon is also an option for those that want a greater challenge. Tarpon fishing can be challenging enough as it is but there isn’t much that can be more satisfying that landing a silver king on fly or plug.

For Tarpon fishing trips I recommend at least a 6 hour trip and booking multiple days is very common for many of my customers. Many people will plan their Tarpon trip a year in advance and it would be a shame to miss an opportunity due to a bad weather day.

Our shark and tarpon fishing trips are available for 4, 6, and 8 hours and we can accommodate up to 6 people per boat for shark only trips but if Tarpon is what you want to target, it’s best to keep your group to 4 or less.
