St. Simons Island Report – Offshore Sheepshead Fishing!

TJ Cheek Fishing Reports Leave a Comment

sheepshead fishing offshoreToday I had a nice family on the boat for some inshore fishing… but we changed our plans last minute after getting a good report from offshore early in the morning. We headed out expecting calm seas but found a choppy mess instead. We bounced out to the reef and started fishing but it was pretty tough with the wind blowing and choppy seas.

The wind started to calm and we got on a steady bite of Summer Trout, Sea Bass, and Bluefish… which is great if you don’t want to put anything in the fish box. After catching a TON of fish we picked up and ran to a little wreck where I have been finding some Sheepshead lately. It took about 30 minutes for the Sheepshead to get with the program but they finally did turn on. The bite was steady and the average size was awesome.Sheepshead in Georgia

The ride back in was in no way like the ride out. It was warm and calm, and we even stopped a couple of times to check out some Dolphin.

Tight lines!
