Man did the wind blow yesterday! With a forecast calling for 25 knot winds and gusts to gale force, I called my client Zac and we had a pow-wow. He was only at St. Simons Island for a day and really wanted to go. He said he could hang in there with the wind, and I had a spot in mind that would provide a bit of shelter.
We headed out from Hickory Bluff, GA yesterday afternoon and went straight to a little creek where we would make our stand. The wind almost blew me off of the boat a couple of times, and Zac fished hard for that first bite. We finally found a school of fish that wanted to eat and Zac went to work.
It was hard for him to make the perfect cast at times when the wind would blow his bait back towards the boat. But he would time his casts and hit the right spot which would instantly trigger a strike. He caught some beautiful Trout up to 17 inches.
This just goes to show you that when you are willing to go you can catch fish even in horrible conditions. Most people would have missed out, but Zac was up for the challenge and conquered the conditions.
Tight lines!
