Best Fishing Guide Coastal Georgia

“Thank you for a phenomenal day of fishing! I have fished with a number of guides at a number of locations throughout the Southeast. I have never caught so many big fish in such a short period of time as we did with you on Wednesday. You put us on the bull reds and kept us on them! You did an outstanding job and my buddy and I will recommend you to everyone we know. Thanks again for a great trip.” – John Brady

I have fished with Captain
TJ a number of times and also trusted him with my clients. If you have not spent the day on the water with TJ you are missing out. Great trips and he always puts us on fish. It is a fishing trip not a boat ride.
” – Lester C.

I’ve fished with a lot of inshore guides,  but I have never had any better trip than we had this Saturday with Capt. T. J., particularly, for a 35 degree Winter morning! We caught all we wanted and then some! Thanks for the awesome trip!” – Jeff Y.

“We can’t wait to go back again. My son hasn’t stopped talking about his shark
and we have to make him take the shark tooth necklace you gave him off at
bedtime. Thanks TJ!!!!.” Neal W.

About Capt. TJ Cheek – Professional Full Time Fishing Guide

St. Simons Fishing GuideCaptain TJ Cheek started fishing the waters of St. Simons Island, Jekyll Island, St. Mary’s, and Cumberland Island with his father, grandfather, and uncles back in the 1980’s. Since then he has had the opportunity to learn from some of the best fishermen and guides on the east coast.

If it swims in the waters of Georgia, TJ has probably fished for it. From Dolphin and Wahoo at the Gulf Stream to Stripers way up the rivers.

His favorite fish to target are Trout, Redfish, and Tripletail. The Capt. especially likes to sight fish whether it is for Tripletail, Tarpon, Cobia, or Barracuda. There is nothing like seeing the fish, making a great cast, and watching it eat the bait.

Capt. TJ left the area for a short time while serving in the U.S. Navy as an Operations Specialist. He was fortunate enough to spend half of his enlistment stationed at Mayport, FL where he was able to live in the Golden Isles and commute to his command. During this time he laid out his plans to become a guide after his enlistment.

Capt. TJ credits much of what he has learned to his father and fellow guide, Capt. Tim Cheek. Capt. Tim has groomed him from an early age to be one of the top guides. The experience gained from his father shows on the water, especially when the conditions are tough. There is no replacement for experience, and thanks to growing up fishing with one of the best fishermen in the area, Capt. TJ has generations of knowledge to work from. When TJ isn’t fishing with customers, you will still find him on the boat with his Dad… learning and taking in all that Georgia fishing has to offer.

Both Capt. TJ and Capt. Tim look forward to the day that TJ’s sons Jackson and Ethan are old enough to start their journeys fishing coastal Georgia.

TJ’s wife, Katie, is a second grade teacher with Glynn County, Georgia.
