Capt. TJ and CGGA Friends Show Off Their Trophies
This past weekend I had the honor of guiding Jimmy Jacobs and Polly Dean for the Rich Products Golden Isles Red Trout Celebrity Classic. Lately the fishing has been challenging but in the days leading up to the tournament it seemed that the river just wanted us to catch more fish. The water cleared up and the wind laid down.
I had found a great school of Redfish prior to the tournament and knew that we could go to that spot as soon as the tide got right and get our fill of Redfish. Being a catch and release only tournament, I didn’t worry at all about harming the school.
The dilemma was going to be finding enough Trout that were big enough to count for points. This proved to be the one thing that would hold us back as 75% of our Trout were too small. We compensated with more Redfish though and were able to get some bonus points for catching most of our fish on artificial baits.
In the end we pulled out Grand Champion Pro Celebrity Angler and Grand Champion Lady Angler. We were rewarded with some beautiful paintings of Redfish and Trout as our trophies. The biggest honor was being able to support a great cause by raising money for the Georgia Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
