sport and the fish eat well, too.... Georgia's nearshore reef
system is literally a breeding ground for many types of bottom
fish, baitfish and other ocean dwellers.

FIGHT!
Spade
Fish fight like no other fish in their size category. On light
tackle and line, prepare to go for a ride when you hook a spade
fish of most any size. The examples shown here are VERY large
spade fish caught last season on fishing charters with Capt. Richie
Lott.
BAIT
AND STUFF
The last
couple of seasons here on the georgia coast, Spade Fishing has
become incresingly popular amongst light tackle anglers and fly-fishermen.
Using a PENN Sargus 2000 Spinning Reel with 30 pound Big Game
Braided line on a 6-12 pound ugly stik graphite rod will get your
attention when you hook up with a Spade Fish, especially if the
fish is in the 7-9 pound range.... You simply will not believe
it! Catching Spade Fishing on the GA coast is very common during
the summer months as they invade the offshore reefs in search
of jellyfish, which is their main diet. We often use jelly balls
collected near the beach before heading offshore in an effort
too "chum" the massive schools of spade fish to the
boat using several techniques.
