December 2014 Fishing Report and Update

We have been boatless for about 3 weeks while our new boat is being built and the Everglades was getting some warranty work done. That has limited our time on the water and given us a break to spend time with other hobbies like hunting. With that being said, we still know what’s going on out there! We’ve been fortunate enough to be invited on some trips with friends and spend some time fishing for ourselves. Here is what I can tell you… the Trout and Redfish bite has been really good and the Sheepshead fishing is getting better and..

Golden Isles Fishing Report for November 2014

Peak Inshore Fishing Time for Georgia Coast Although we have been plagued by wind, rain, and cold weather, the fishing has still been somewhere between good and excellent on most days. Except for a couple of days when the water clarity was pretty nasty due to a combination of weather factors and extreme tides we have been doing really well on both Trout and Redfish. For the next several weeks I expect that we will continue to have some great days as long as we can get decent weather during the prime tides. Sheepshead are starting to become a regular..

Inshore Fishing at St. Simons is in Full Swing!

Bull Redfish at Jekyll Island

It’s inshore fishing prime time! This is the time of year when the fishing heats up, yet for some reason, business slows down. If you want to catch Trout, Redfish, Black Drum, and Sheepshead this is the time to do it. We’ve been hammering the Trout and slot Redfish as well as the Bull Reds. Over the next couple of weeks the water temperature will continue to cool and the Trout fishing will continue to get better. The Bull Reds will move out once the water temps dip down around 60 but we can hardly complain since we’ve been catching..

GIFP: Ep. 9 | Whiting Time! | Good Pier Fishing | Prepping for Tripletail

This week I just have to apologize. I didn’t really get on the phone and gather up the report like I would like to due to being sick. I had to get my dad to cover my trips for me, and I’ve been down for the count. So this podcast might be a little rough. The good news is that the Whiting are here and the average size has improved dramatically. Yesterday (Thursday) we were able to catch close to 100 on 2 Kids Fishing trips and they were mostly nice fish. The Trout fishing continues to be tough. The..

GIFP: Ep. 8 | Sea Bass | Sight Fishing | Redfish Tips | Inshore Chumming

Kids Fishing Trips St. Simons

Golden Isles Fishing Podcast Episode 8: Sushi Fastballs, Peeled Prawns, and Warm Up Already! Sushi fastballs? Really? Yeah… it’s just a way that I have described this phenomenon to my customers in the past and it seemed to resonate with them and help improve their angling skills so I figured I would share it in this podcast. But yeah, it’s kind of weird. Capt. TJ Cheek’s Podcast Fishing Report for St. Simons Island, Jekyll Island, and Brunswick, GA Here is a quick summary of the podcast, just give it a listen for all the details. In this report I talk..

St. Simons Island Fishing Report – Spring Fishing Guide

Spring Fishing Guide for St. Simons Island and Jekyll Island Fishing Charters Now that Spring is springing, we are starting to see some cool stuff happening. The water temps are rising and what is hopefully the last real cold snap is about to pass through. If I have my way, this will be the last of the cold weather and the water temps can get into the 60s and stay there. So what does this mean for you as a customer? More opportunities. Right now I am focusing on two things; reef fishing and inshore fishing. On the reefs we..

Golden Isles Fishing Podcast – Episode 7 – Gonna Have to Work for It

Fishing Guide

The hardest thing about doing these podcasts so far is finding new things to talk about when there just isn’t much changing. Maybe the water temperature ticks up a degree or two, or the tides are a bit better, or the fishing was just a little better than the week before. Sometimes I think I just end up repeating myself. This week, it’s even tougher. The fishing and weather were not cooperative and that just makes this a tough fishing report to deliver, but I guess you have to take the good with the bad. Last weekend we moved around..

Golden Isles Fishing Podcast: Episode 5 – Good Tides at St. Simons Island

Fishing report for St. Simons Island, Jekyll Island, Brunswick, GA

Episode 5 of the Golden Isles Fishing Podcast with Capt. TJ Cheek Not a lot has changed overall since last week’s episode in terms of what is biting and the best techniques to catch fish right now around St. Simons Island and Jekyll Island. What is much different this weekend is that the tides are MUCH better compared to last weekend. During the 9 foot tides we dealt with this past weekend my customers were able to fight through and get on a great bite. The Trout, Redfish, Sheepshead, Black Drum, and Flounder were all cooperative in spite of the..
