St. Simons Almost Spring Fishing Report and Forecast

Well it’s been a long winter and the warmer temps and calmer days seem to have anglers getting their plans made for Spring Break fishing trips. We’ve been fortunate to be busy the last couple of weeks and our time has been spent inshore fishing for Trout and Redfish, Whiting fishing on kids trips, and on the nearshore reefs on the nicer days fishing for Sheepshead. Spring Break Fishing Forecast for St. Simons Island I’ll give you the forecast for the next few weeks before I get into the report. Right now the inshore fishing is really inconsistent. One day..

St. Simons Island February Fishing Report

Fishing Charters St. Simons

Inshore and Offshore Fishing Report for St. Simons Island February can be a tough month to predict ahead of time, especially on the inshore side of the house. Each year seems to be different and can range from absolutely outstanding to down right brutal. This year seems to be somewhere in the middle but definitely above average. In January the inshore fishing was just tough. We were able to find fish but the weather put a damper on everything with high winds and rain. Couple that with some big tides and you have..

Tackle List for Fishing Saltwater in Georgia

Complete Tackle List For Inshore and Nearshore Fishing in Georgia Waters If you’re new to fishing in Georgia and you are overwhelmed by all of the tackle choices out there, this blog post is just for you. As a fishing guide here in Georgia, I have to keep my tackle simple but versatile. I can’t keep every lure known to man in my boat and I have to make sure that whatever I use, it’s simple enough for a novice to catch on quickly. For that reason, my tackle box might not be the treasure trove of cool stuff and..

Golden Isles Fishing Report for November 2014

Peak Inshore Fishing Time for Georgia Coast Although we have been plagued by wind, rain, and cold weather, the fishing has still been somewhere between good and excellent on most days. Except for a couple of days when the water clarity was pretty nasty due to a combination of weather factors and extreme tides we have been doing really well on both Trout and Redfish. For the next several weeks I expect that we will continue to have some great days as long as we can get decent weather during the prime tides. Sheepshead are starting to become a regular..

Inshore Fishing at St. Simons is in Full Swing!

Bull Redfish at Jekyll Island

It’s inshore fishing prime time! This is the time of year when the fishing heats up, yet for some reason, business slows down. If you want to catch Trout, Redfish, Black Drum, and Sheepshead this is the time to do it. We’ve been hammering the Trout and slot Redfish as well as the Bull Reds. Over the next couple of weeks the water temperature will continue to cool and the Trout fishing will continue to get better. The Bull Reds will move out once the water temps dip down around 60 but we can hardly complain since we’ve been catching..

October Fishing Report – Bull Redfish, Inshore Fishing, Tournament News

I’ve always really liked fishing in October. You get to experience the beginning of the Fall inshore bite and the warm water species are still around. This makes for a variety of options ranging from Bull Redfish, Trout, and smaller Redfish to Sharks, Tripletail, and the occasional Tarpon. Last month started with a bang but went on to drop some really nasty weather on us towards the end. Usually late September provides some stellar inshore fishing but we were just lucky to get out for a trip here and there. This month you can expect our focus to be on..

August Fishing Forecast for Coastal Georgia

Tarpon at St. Simons Island

It’s Tarpon Time in Georgia! We’ve already experienced some excellent Tarpon fishing this year as early as June. The fish are usually a bit harder to pattern early in the season but we have had some days where hundreds of Tarpon have been around the boat showing out. The trouble for me with Tarpon fishing early in the season is that most of the time I don’t have the clientele to really dig hard and work on the fish. It can take patience and a willingness to fail at times. During summer vacation there are..

GIFP: Ep. 9 | Whiting Time! | Good Pier Fishing | Prepping for Tripletail

This week I just have to apologize. I didn’t really get on the phone and gather up the report like I would like to due to being sick. I had to get my dad to cover my trips for me, and I’ve been down for the count. So this podcast might be a little rough. The good news is that the Whiting are here and the average size has improved dramatically. Yesterday (Thursday) we were able to catch close to 100 on 2 Kids Fishing trips and they were mostly nice fish. The Trout fishing continues to be tough. The..
